It isin the hotandpromisingsummer of 2017 that ART-MAP invaded the bi-millennial city and opened the wings in a peculiar andcreativeway ofrecalling, troughnaambitious project of visual arts, one of its most golden periods– TheBAROQUE. Answeringthe challenge launched by the curator Madina Ziganshina, theMunicipality could not fail to associate and presented to Braga a large demonstration inspaceswhich aresodearing to our citizens and intriguing for visitors. The works and the artists, despite being so diverseintheir life experiences and in ways of their creative expression, responded thecal to THINK BAROQUE.
What pleased me about this initiative, was the unexpected notionin this originalapproach ofthe relationship between history and art during this unique event. Involvement of sufficiently well-known names and ofemerging artists, attracted notonly the audience directly interested in suchspecific genre ofartistic intervention, but also invited the general public, who entered for thefirst time in some ofthese spaces tocontact new artistic conceptions andinnovativeperspectives.Due toaudacity and willingness, one more challenge, whichaimed forthe valorisation ofcontemporary art,the preservation and knowledge ofhistoryand monuments and inpromotion of culturaland tourism ofour territory, was accepted.
